In the same way that you might decorate a sandcastle on the beach with seashells, Suzan Drummen adorns her work with sparkling gemstones, mirrors and glass. Visitors are enticed, seduced and disorientated. All the details and elements work as a collection of convex lenses, creating a dizzying effect. The many reflections can no longer be “read” by the eyes. You then automatically focus on things differently, take a step back and try to view the complete picture. This dividing line between being able and unable to comprehend something is an exploratory thread running through Suzan Drummen’s work.
