During Glocal Affairs, Oscar Creemers will be exhibiting together with Ray Moon at ’t Brandweer. In this exhibition, the artists investigate the differences and similarities in their notions of painting. In simplified terms, Moon works with a depiction – buildings, figures etc. that coagulate on the canvas – whereas Creemers opts for total abstraction. However, in the view of the artists, this conclusion could also easily be switched around.
Ray Moon paints in black and white. Oscar Creemers stretches the notion of painting to its extremes; paint itself is not even a necessity. For him, it’s all about the approach. Both artists see the medium of painting as the execution of actions using materials with the aim of effectuating “objectives without further definition”. In addition, they have been working together for almost twenty years in Los Dancing Queens: art that looks like a band.
